Truck driver nabbed with 55 televisions

Police are searching for a truck driver’s accomplices who are believed to have been involved in a number of business robberies.

After stopping a truck driver and searching the vehicle, on Tuesday night, members of the Moffatview SAPS arrested the driver.

They arrested him after they found 55 television sets inside the truck and he could not produce proof of where they came from.

The police officers took the televisions to the police station and the items were linked to a business robbery which had occurred at LG Electronics in Gosforth Park, between 8pm and 10pm, on the same day.

“Ekurhuleni West Cluster Trio Task Team investigators are working around the clock to arrest the other suspects involved, as it is believed these suspects can be linked to other business robbery cases within the cluster,” said Capt André de Jager, spokesperson for the Ekurhuleni West cluster.

“The suspect, aged 32, was detained at the Germiston Police Station and charged with business robbery.

“He was due to appear in the Germiston Magistrate’s Court on Friday.”
