Men arrested after high speed chase

Katlehong and Thokoza police arrest two men for the possession of a hijacked vehicle after high speed chase.

Two men, aged 23 and 24 years old respectively, were cornered and arrested by members of the Katlehong and Thokoza police, recently.

The pair were charged with possession of a hijacked vehicle, which was stolen in Alexandra, and attempted murder after a high speed chase with police.

“Officers traced the stolen Volkswagen Polo to the Thokoza area through its tracker.

“When the men saw police they raced off towards Katlehong,” explained Capt Mega Ndobe, of the Ekurhuleni West cluster.

Police were able to stop the vehicle at the Buyafuthi Hostel in Katlehong.

“The suspects fired shots at officers as they approached them, however, no injuries were reported and the men were apprehended,” said Ndobe.

The men will appear in the Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court soon.
