1 Theft causes learning crisis at Primrose High School: https://bit.ly/2plfyml

About 300 learners from Primrose High School are unsure when they will be able to resume their CAT (computer applications technology) classes and with exams looming in June, the school is hard-pressed to offer them a solution. They had about a week’s worth of theory they could tackle but after that the situation looks dire as they have no computers left to work on. The crisis comes after the school was robbed recently.

Makause informal settlement residents Saphokazi and Nomvula Maqala are urging domestic workers to be on high alert. This comes after Saphokazi advertised in the GCN that she is looking for domestic employment. A week later she received a call from a man regarding her advert.

3 EMPD officers tackle drugs in the city: https://bit.ly/2pfOi5O

Drugs valued at about R14 000 were seized in Primrose, recently, during the arrest of three men. The arrests were made by members of the EMPD Drug Enforcement Unit members in Petunia Road, Primrose.

4 Something for everyone at centenary market day: https://bit.ly/2oXdcYj

There promised to be something for everyone at the Germiston High School fun-filled centenary market day, on May 6. “The day was dedicated to our school’s learners, staff members and neighbouring schools. It was a day where everyone could relax and experience just how the school has changed and grown over the years,” said Sanita Louw, events coordinator and teacher at Germiston High.

5 National News – Three highly venomous snakes caught in Pretoria: https://bit.ly/2pltkWH

Three dangerous snakes have been sighted in the last three weeks in the east of Pretoria. Snake handler Barry Greenshields said a puff adder was spotted in Wapadrand two weeks ago, “I did not believe the phone call as the snake was found in the middle of an office park,” he said.
