Passengers of a mini-bus taxi were transported to hospital after one of the vehicle’s tyres burst on the N3 southbound between the N17 split and the Grey Avenue off-ramp, recently. “The mini-bus overturned and landed on the embankment after the driver lost control of the vehicle,” said Lieut Kobeli Mokheseng, media liaison officer for the EMPD.

Three dangerous snakes have been sighted in the past three weeks in the east of Pretoria. Snake handler Barry Greenshields said a puff adder was spotted in Wapadrand two weeks ago. “I did not believe the phone call as the snake was found in the middle of an office park,” he said.

3 Warning to domestic workers: https://bit.ly/2q6EZoV

Makause informal settlement residents Saphokazi and Nomvula Maqala are urging domestic workers to be on high alert. This comes after Saphokazi advertised in the GCN that she is looking for domestic employment. A week later she received a call from a man regarding her advert.

4 Man shot and killed in Webber Road: https://bit.ly/2oG5Z0Q

Germiston police have confirmed that they are investigating a murder after a recent shooting in Webber Road, in Lambton. “Officers were called to the scene of a shooting at about 1pm. Upon arrival they found a 50-year-old man in a pool of blood, in a double-cab bakkie. He had been shot and killed,” said Capt George Raphulu, head of communications for the Germiston SAPS.

5 Tip-off leads to arrest: https://bit.ly/2pKQN3K

A 32-year-old man was recently arrested by members of the Johannesburg K9 Unit in Turnhout Avenue, in Primrose. The man was arrested and charged with possession of drugs, after patrolling officers received a tip-off from a member of the community.
