EMPD unit pounces on suspected drug dealer

Suspected drug dealer behind bars for possession of Kat and crystal meth valued at R5 000.

A suspected drug dealer was arrested and drugs confiscated after EMPD Drug Enforcement Unit officers received information from reliable sources, on Tuesday.

“The suspect was apprehended at 11.30am in Primrose and found in possession of crystal methamphetamine and Kat, with an estimated street value of R5 000,” said Lieut-Col Wilfred Kgasago, spokesman for the EMPD.

“The information on the vehicle used and the description of the suspect was used to stake out his place and surveillance was conducted to monitor his movements and actions.

“The opportune time arrived last Tuesday and the EMPD members pounced and trapped the suspect at the corner of Rietfontein and Blackwood roads.

“A thorough search of the suspect’s vehicle and his person revealed R300 worth of crystal meth and a lump of unprocessed Kat valued at R4 600.”

The 34-year-old foreign national male was detained at the Primrose Police Station and charged with possession and dealing in illicit substances.

He was expected to appear in the Germiston Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday.
