Man nabbed for alleged house break-in

Goods allegedly stolen during a Lupin Street house break-in recovered in Elandsfontein.

While at work, recently, a Lupin Street man received a call from his neighbour.

“The complainant told police that his neighbour had told him that his door seemed to have been forced open,” said Sgt Styles Maome, communications officer for the Primrose police.

The man rushed home, where he discovered that his house had been robbed and a plasma TV, Sony DVD home theatre system, four pairs of takkies, a pair of boots and R7 000 in cash were missing.

“The total value of the items taken was estimated at R30 000,” said Maome.

Primrose police began to investigate the crimes and after following several leads traced a 26-year-old man.

He was arrested and charged with a house break-in and theft.

“During questioning the suspect agreed to take officers to where he had hidden the stolen items,” said Maome.

Officers recovered all of the stolen items in Elandsfontein.

The suspect was held at the Primrose Police Station pending his appearance in the Germiston Magistrate’s Court.
