Breaking News: Sixteen injured in N3 accident

Mini-bus taxi lands on embankment after one of its tyres bursts.

Passengers of a mini-bus taxi were transported to hospital after one of the vehicle’s tyres burst on the N3 southbound between the N17 split and the Grey Avenue off-ramp on Tuesday.

“The mini-bus overturned and landed on the embankment after the driver lost control of the vehicle,” said Lieut Kobeli Mokheseng, media liaison officer for the EMPD.

“All 16 passengers, excluding the driver, suffered serious injuries and were transported to different hospitals for attention.

“The driver seemed to be in shock and suffered minor injuries.”

Mokheseng also said the matter will be handed over to the police for further investigation.

“A case of reckless and negligent driving will be opened at the Germiston Police Station,” he said.
More information will follow as it becomes available.
