Come and support the SPCA’s Easter Egg Hunt fund-raiser

It will be all about fun for a good cause on the Easter weekend.

With the Germiston SPCA’s ongoing battle to make ends meet and keep its doors open, a fun fund-raising event will be held.

The Easter Egg Hunt fund-raiser is set to take place on April 15, from 1pm, at the Germiston SPCA kennels in Junction Road, Driehoek.

This event will offer adults and children a fun-filled afternoon whilst raising much-needed funds for the SPCA.

There will be a tea garden, beer garden and, for the children, face painting, a magician and lots of fun for the afternoon.

“In 2016, we helped over 6 000 homeless, stray, lost and abused animals by taking them away from cruel environments or off the streets.

“We sterilised over 1 500 animals in that period, which is costly but also necessary to curb the overpopulation problem we are having,” said Cathy Valente-Parkinson, the treasurer for the Germiston SPCA.

“With your support, the SPCA will be able to continue its mission to provide education and outreach projects in the community, medical services for needy animals, humane investigations, safe shelter for homeless animals, and strong adoption programmes to ensure that every animal lives in a safe, loving and secure environment.”

To make the day a great success, the SPCA is requesting donations of marshmallow Easter eggs for the hunt, cupcakes, tea, coffee and sugar for the tea garden and boerewors and rolls to sell.

“We would also need one or two portable toilets as the premises where we are holding the event do not have ablution facilities.

“We would also appreciate the use of a jumping castle or two for the children to have fun on,” said Cathy.

“Lastly, but most importantly, you can help by supporting this event. Bring your friends and family to join us and have fun for a great cause.”

For more information, contact Cathy on 082 820 0825 or the SPCA offices on 087 237 7720 or 011 825-5033.
