Baby abandoned in Katlehong South

Police and Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences (FCS) Unit members search for baby’s mother.

A baby boy, estimated to be between two and three weeks old, was found abandoned in Katlehong South last Thursday.

“The baby was found by members of the community who immediately called police to the scene,” said Capt Mega Ndobe, of the Ekurhuleni West cluster.

The baby was taken to hospital for a check-up and was found to be in good health. He is currently being kept at a place of safety.

A case of child abandonment was opened by the Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences (FCS) Unit and officers are actively searching for the baby’s mother.

“The police appeal to anyone who may have information about the whereabouts of the mother to come forward,” said Ndobe.
