Police, EMPD nab alleged drug dealers in Elsburg

Two men were recently arrested after allegedly being found in possession of drugs in Elsburg.

Three Germiston Cluster Crime Intelligence Unit members together with four members of the EMPD conducted a joint operation in an effort to bust drug dealers in the early hours of the morning, recently.

The officers received a tip-off from a reliable source who gave positive information about two places where drugs could be found.

The officers proceeded to the addresses in Plein Street, Elsburg.

At the first address only one packet of drugs weighing 0.5 grams was found and confiscated and police arrested a 38-year-old man on a charge of possession of drugs.

The officers proceeded to the next address and found one man at the house.

“Seeing the police he fled the scene but an officer chased him and apprehended him,” said Const Daphney Phooko, communications officer for the Elsburg SAPS.

“They took him back to his house and searched him.

“Police found drugs on him with a street value of R2 000 in his possession.”

The suspects, aged 38 and 40, are each facing charges of possession of drugs and dealing in drugs.
