Breaking News: Chemical leak at Germiston factory leaves numerous people injured
Emergency services are currently on the scene of a chemical leak at a factory in Germiston.
An apparent chemical leak at a factory on La Bassee Road in Germiston has left numerous people injured this morning.
ER24 paramedics, along with several other services, arrived on the scene and found approximately 50 to 100 people standing outside the nearby factory.
It is understood that the factory had evacuated the workers after one of the chemicals leaked.
Local authorities began to close off the road while emergency services set up a triage area.
Upon assessment, paramedics discovered that numerous patients were experiencing difficulty in breathing.
The patients were treated for their injuries and were thereafter transported to various hospitals for further treatment.
The exact cause of this incident is not yet known but local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
