Community hands man over to cops

Man allegedly breaks into Katlehong shack, but is nabbed before taking anything.

The community of Thusong informal settlement in Katlehong recently assisted in the arrest of a 28-year-old man.

It is alleged that the suspect broke into a shack and was apprehended inside the shack before he could steal anything or commit any other crime.

“The community nabbed the man and called officers from the Katlehong Police Station to the scene,” said Capt Mega Ndobe of the Ekurhuleni West cluster.

The man was charged with a house break-in with the intent to commit an unknown crime.

“Police thanked the community for not taking the law into their own hands,” Ndobe said.

Police continue to investigate the crime.

The man will appear in the Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court soon.
