Police encourage Katlehong community to voice their concerns

Katlehong police and other local organisations hold crime awareness campaign in the Siphamandla informal settlement.

The number of rape cases being reported across the Ekurhuleni West cluster remains a concern for police.

To address the issue and to help raise awareness officers from the Katlehong Police Station, members of the Katlehong Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit, local CPF members, community patrollers, officers of the Social Crime Prevention Unit and representatives from other organisations held an awareness campaign, last Saturday.

Led by Katlehong Police Station commander Brig Phumla Mdlankomo the team visited the Siphamandla informal settlement to speak to community members and encourage residents to voice their concerns when it comes to crimes in the area.

In addition the team offered women and young girls advice on how to avoid becoming a statistic.

“We hope that the community will take to heart the safety tips shared during this awareness campaign and that together we can curb crime in Katlehong,” said Capt Mega Ndobe, of the Ekurhuleni West cluster.
