Victim claims attack by five

A man was allegedly attacked and robbed by five men in the Makause informal settlement.

A 32-year-old man was recently arrested by the Primrose police on a charge of common robbery.

He was one of five men who allegedly assaulted and robbed a man in the Makause informal settlement.

“The complainant told officers that he was on his way home when he saw a woman who owed him money.

“He decided to ask her for the money and alleged that she began screaming when he tried to speak to her, which drew the attention of five men standing close by,” said communications officer for the Primrose police, Sgt Styles Maome.

The men allegedly surrounded him and started to assault him.

During the assault he was stabbed in the upper body, and the men also allegedly robbed him of his cellphone.

“The victim was able to describe one of the assailants to officers and they traced and arrested him,” said Maome.

He was held at the Primrose Police Station pending his appearance in the Germiston Magistrate’s Court.
