Nabbed for R14k suspected stolen copper cable

A 50-year-old man was apprehended by the Primrose police for possession of suspected stolen property.

While on patrol in Main Reef Road recently, officers from the Primrose Police Station noticed a suspicious-looking vehicle.

“They pulled the driver of the vehicle over and asked the 50-year-old male driver if they could search the vehicle, and he agreed,” said communications officer for the Primrose police, Sgt Styles Maome.

During the search police found R14 000 worth of copper cable.

“The man was questioned as to where the copper had come from and if he had proof of ownership for the copper,” said Maome.

When he was unable to answer the officers’ questions or give them proof of ownership, he was arrested.

The suspect has since appeared in the Germiston Magistrate’s Court, on a charge of possession of suspected stolen property.

His case was postponed for plea and trial.
