EMPD nab five speedsters on highway in Germiston

EMPD members once again targeted speeding motorists on Germiston’s highways.

EMPD officers from the High Speed Unit once again tackled speedsters on the city’s highways.

In an operation, last Sunday, between 5am and 11am, on the N3 highway northbound near the M2 highway split in Germiston, five motorists were apprehended for ignoring the 120km speed limit.

Officers stopped a blue Audi S3, driven by a 42-year-old man with a woman and two children as passengers, for clocking 172km/h at 7am.

The speedster alleged that they were late for church.

The other four alleged offenders were caught doing speeds between 162 and 166km/h.

“All law breakers were detained and charged, with reckless and negligent driving, at the Germiston Police Station.

“Suspects will appear in the Germiston Magistrate’s Court soon,” said Lieut Kobeli Mokheseng, media liaison officer for the EMPD.
