Elderly woman found dead in Katlehong

The Katlehong North police continue to investigate the alleged murder of a 62-year-old woman.

A 62-year-old woman was found dead in the Phooko Section of Katlehong, recently.

The deceased was discovered by her tenants when they woke up in the morning.

“A case of murder was opened with the Katlehong North police when it was discovered that the victim had multiple stab wounds to the upper body.

“The motive for the murder is unknown at this stage,” Capt Mega Ndobe of the Ekurhuleni West cluster said.

Working on information received from the community, officers were able to trace and arrest a 37-year-old man allegedly responsible for the murder only hours after the crime was reported.

He was arrested and charged with murder.

“The man was found in the Phake Section, which is a stone’s throw away from the Phooko Section,” said Ndobe.

The man will appear in the Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court soon.

“We applaud the community for coming together and assisting with this arrest,” said Ndobe.
