Officers from the Katlehong Police Station had a successful weekend with the arrest of 35 suspects in the area.
The accused were arrested in several police operations, held by members of the Katlehong Crime Prevention Unit and the EMPD, from February 24 to 26.
The suspects were charged for various offences which included assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm, housebreaking and theft, shoplifting, common assault, business robbery, rape, drinking liquor in public, possession of a stolen motor vehicle, driving under the influence of alcohol and for possession of drugs (including, dagga and nyaope).
During the operations police also recovered two stolen vehicles, a Volkswagen Golf, which was reported stolen in Eden Park, and a Mercedes Benz Compressor, reportedly stolen from Florida.
All of the accused appeared in the Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court, where their cases were postponed for various reasons.
