She is young, beautiful and determined to take the modelling industry by storm.
Xolelwa Bentele (22) has always dreamed of being a professional model and it seems her dream is slowly becoming a reality.
Xolelwa recently entered a modelling competition.
“When my application for the competition was approved and accepted, I was lost for words,” she said.
“I know it is still the early stages but the acceptance made a big difference to me and it has really motivated me.”
Although Xolelwa has always wanted to become a model, she first had to gain confidence.
“I had the desire to be a model but lacked the confidence when I was a child,” she said.
“I have a curvy body shape and thought modelling was not meant for people like me.
“My mom and friends helped me get my confidence back as they always used to encourage me.”
The Tedstoneville resident also said that having her whole family’s support means a lot to her.
When she gained her confidence she began modelling at various fashion shows.
Xolelwa also loves working with people.
“I enjoy engaging with people, especially children and young girls,” said Xolelwa.
“I see myself owning a care centre where I will motivate, encourage and advise young girls to follow their dreams and work hard.
“I visit and volunteer at a number of centres and homes whenever possible. I enjoy getting involved in community projects.”
Xolelwa hopes to bag a number of pageant titles.
“I am also looking to enter a number of pageants like Miss Jozi that is set to take place later in the year,” Xolelwa explained.
“I hope for a fruitful journey ahead.
“My advice to aspiring models is you can still become successful no matter where you come from. Don’t ever let anyone discourage you.”
