Young Germiston dancer needs support to get to Blackpool

Help send Jessica Silva to the Freestyle World Championships, in the United Kingdom.

She’s beautiful and talented and Jessica Silva (11) has the dance world at her feet.

The youngster started dancing at the age of seven and within 18 months she had become a championship level freestyle dancer.

When she first walked into the dance studio of her trainer, Tiffany Little-Niewenhuizen, from Universal Dance Centre, in Bedfordview, Tiffany spotted the natural talent of the little girl and encouraged her to start competing in local competitions.

And Jessica hasn’t stopped moving since.

“She has a raw talent and is so passionate about her dreams as a dancer; she trains every weekday,” said her mother, Charlene.

“In 2016, she qualified to represent South Africa at the IDO (International Dance Organisation) World Disco Championships, in Sweden, and, sadly, due to a lack of funding, Jessica could not take part and represent South Africa.”

This did not discourage her, however, and she focused her efforts on the next championship.

Jessica has now qualified to represent South Africa at the Freestyle World Championships, to be held in Blackpool, in the United Kingdom, in June.

Her parents, studio and trainers would love to get Jessica to Blackpool to participate in the world championships.

When asked how she felt about qualifying for the championships, Jessica said, “I am very excited and nervous at the same time.

“I am also hoping we manage to raise enough funds for me to be able to go to Blackpool.

“Dancing is in my blood and when you see a little girl dancing in the shops it is most likely me, as I dance at every opportunity I can. I love dancing.”

If anyone is willing to help Jessica attain her dream by means of sponsorship or donations, contact Charlene on 083 250 6335.

Any sponsorship or donations would be greatly appreciated.
