Friends shot by unknown man

A 43-year-man was arrested by the Primrose police, recently, on charges of attempted murder.

While walking in the Marathon informal settlement, recently, two friends were allegedly shot by an unknown man.

“One of the victims explained that while walking past a local tavern he heard a gunshot, and all of a sudden his friend fell to the ground.

“He was confused at first, but realised his friend had been shot,” explained Sgt Styles Maome, communications officer for the Primrose police.

It was then that the man claims that the unknown gunman walked towards him and allegedly fired three shots at him.

“One of the bullets hit the man in the upper body,” said Maome.

The men were taken to hospital for treatment.

“Using the description given by the victim, officers were able to trace the 43-year-old man accused of the crime and he was arrested,” Maome said.

He has since appeared in the Germiston Magistrate’s Court where his case was postponed for plea and trial.
