Warning – Heavy rain with the possibility of flooding predicted for Gauteng until Wednesday

Take the necessary precautions in extreme weather conditions.

It has been a cloudy start to the week in Germiston with the South African Weather Service warning residents to be prepared for heavy rain as the wet weather will continue for most of the week.

In addition to the warning of heavy rains, possible flooding and poor visibility over Gauteng, the service warned of severe thunderstorms and high discomfort values.

The warnings in more detail:

Localised and flash floods may be experienced in parts of Gauteng due to heavy rainfall.

Heavy rain is predicted over the province for most of the week.

Visibility of less than 1km expected in places in Gauteng.

Extremely hot conditions are expected over the northern parts of Gauteng, despite the rainfall.

Motorists are reminded to take the necessary precautions when travelling in wet weather.

They are encouraged to reduce speed and increase their following distances and headlights should be kept on at all times to increase visibility.

Residents should also ensure that they shelter their pets.
