Crates of liquor destroyed

Police destroy 46 crates full of liquor seized during the shutdown of illegal taverns in the area.

Following a series of successful police operations in the Primrose area police destroyed 46 crates of liquor.

The alcohol was confiscated from illegal taverns in Primrose’s three informal settlements, the Makause, Delport and Marathon informal settlements.

“Selling liquor without a licence is a criminal offence.

“We continue to experience challenges related to the abuse of liquor especially in the informal settlements,” said Sgt Styles Maome, communications officer for the Primrose police.

Police are appealing to the community to refrain from selling liquor without a licence.

“We will conduct similar operations to stop the illegal sale of liquor and once we confiscate the alcohol we will destroy it,” said Maome.
