Stop-and-search yields positive results

Katlehong South police arrest six suspects including three men for business robbery.

During a recent stop-and-search operation, the Katlehong South police arrested six suspects for various offences.

The routine stop-and-search operation was held by the Katlehong Crime Prevention Unit with the help of Katlehong South detectives, who used the operation to assist in several on-going cases.

The accused were arrested on the following charges: one man for arson and two men for the possession of dagga.

The remaining three men were arrested in connection with a business robbery that took place at a local tavern in December 2016.

The men, aged between 24 and 25, allegedly robbed the business at around 10.45am and held a 46-year-old female employee at gunpoint during the robbery.

“The three men allegedly held the woman at gunpoint and forced her to open the tavern’s safe.

“They made off on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash,” explained Capt Mega Ndobe of the Ekurhuleni West cluster.

The investigation into the robbery continues, as the firearms allegedly used in the crime have not yet been found.

All of the arrested suspects appeared in the Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court, where their cases were postponed for various reasons.
