A case of statutory rape was opened recently against a 26-year-old man from the Marathon informal settlement.
The case was open by the man’s girlfriend after he allegedly forced himself on her 14-year-old sister.
The complainant first suspected something had happened to her sister when she returned home and was reserved, quiet and withdrawn.
“She told police that her boyfriend had asked her sister to come to his shack.
“When there he told the girl he loved her and then allegedly began to undress her before forcing himself on her and raping her,” said communications officer for the Primrose police, Sgt Styles Maome.
Police were able to trace the suspect and he was arrested.
He has since appeared in the Germiston Magistrate’s Court where his case was postponed for plea and trial.
