EMPD officers crack down on highway speedsters in Germiston

Five people were apprehended for disregarding the speed limit, on Sunday.

EMPD officers from the High Speed Unit tackled speeding on the N3 south highway, near the Rand Airport off-ramp, on Sunday.

The operation took place between 5am and 11am.

They apprehended five speedsters for ignoring the 120km per hour speed limit.

At 5.27am officers stopped a white VW Golf 7 driven by a 33-year-old man, with a female passenger, for clocking 202km/h.

The wrongdoer alleged that he was on his way home.

Other law breakers were caught doing speeds of between 162km/h and 185km/h.

All offenders were detained at the Germiston Police Station and charged with reckless and negligent driving.

The suspects will appear in the Germiston Magistrate’s Court soon.
