Generator battery and diesel stolen from local business

Suspect linked to another four cases after being arrested for a business break-in and theft.

The Primrose police recently arrested a 40-year-old man in connection with a business break-in and theft.

The arrest was made after the complainant reported that his Rietfontein Road store had been burgled.

“He told police he had locked up as usual and when he returned the next morning he noticed a light was on.

“Upon further inspection he discovered a generator battery and nine 25-litre containers of diesel were missing,” explained Sgt Styles Maome, communications officer for the Primrose police.

The total value of the goods taken was estimated at R10 000.

Officers were able to trace and arrest the accused after following several leads.

“During the booking process at the Primrose Police Station the suspect was linked to a further four cases,” Maome said.

The suspect appeared in the Germiston Magistrate’s Court.
