As part of the ongoing #Siyaqhuba mayoral project, members of the EMPD Drug Enforcement Unit, K9 Unit and SWAT Unit, arrested a 21-year old male Nigerian national following a tip-off provided by a reliable entity.
Various illegal substances were confiscated.
The arrest was made at 1pm, on Tuesday, in Primrose.
“The hawk-eyed members from specialised units spotted and cornered a cooperative suspect on Petunia Road, where he volunteered to lead officers to his rented flat.
“In his bedroom, between some mattresses, R5 410 in cash and 72 ziplock bags of KAT and crystal myth to the street value of R20 000 were found,” said acting Lieut-Col Kobeli Mokheseng, the spokesman for the EMPD.
The arrested suspect was detained at the Primrose Police Station on charges of possession of and dealing in an illicit substance.
He is expected to appear in the Germiston Magistrate’s Court soon.
