Watch: Great start to new academic year for Wychwood Primary
Children were excited to take their seats at Wychwood Primary School.
Tamia Govender (6, left) and Chantel Nhambiu (6) who started Grade One at Wychwood Primary School on Wednesday, had already become best friends.
It was all systems go at Wychwood Primary School on Wednesday, as the staff and learners set off on their 2017 academic journey together.
The children were happy and excited to be back at school – and the Grade Ones couldn’t wait to start learning, in either Wendy Howarth’s class or Irene Matthews’ class.
The school has a complement of 571 in their classrooms, but still has space for any Grade Three children who live in the area.
Acting principal of the school Linda van Schalkwyk said: “We’re happy with how things are going; the day has gone smoothly.
“We’re still waiting for a few pupils to come back, but otherwise there have been no problems.”
She added that the Grade R’s are extremely excited to be at ‘big school’, as are the Grade Ones.
“We’re nervous but excited for the year ahead; and people can expect lots of good changes at the school,” van Schalkwyk said.
