Highs and lows for Vryburger’s matrics

Hoërskool Vryburger High School pleased with their matrics’ 2016 results.

It was a busy day for high schools across the city on Thursday as matric students eagerly raced to receive their National Senior Certificates.

Learners from Hoërskool Vryburger High School were no different.

The school’s hall was filled with loud talking and laughter as the students received their results, though some students walked away disappointed with their final examination results.

The school, which achieved an 86.3 per cent pass rate, was happy with the performance of their 149 learners, who between them earned 22 distinctions.

Khumoitsile Raphadu, an HOD at the school, said, “We are very proud as a school today as we issue the 2016 class of matrics their certificates.

“We appreciate the effort made by both the teachers and learners.”

The school’s top achievers were:

  • Mandisa Nhlapo, who achieved six distinctions for English, mathematics, life orientation, business studies, physical sciences and life sciences.

  • Tshegofatso Makgato, who achieved two distinctions for business studies and life orientation.
  • Emmanuel Kumalo, who achieved two distinctions for mathematics and life orientation.
  • Fanisa Matelakengisa, who achieved six distinctions.

The school wishes the students all the best for the road ahead.
