When a man returned to his Simon Street, Rustivia, home he discovered his washing machine had been taken.
Confused he asked his landlord if she had seen anything.
“The landlord alleged that she saw a 24-year-old man, known to the complainant, taking the washing machine,” said communications officer for the Primrose police Sgt Styles Maome.
The police were called to the scene and a formal case was opened.
“Using the description given by the complainant and the landlord officers were able to find the suspect,” said Maome.
He was arrested and charged with theft.
The suspect has since appeared in the Germiston Magistrate’s Court, where his case was postponed for plea and trial.
