No proof for containers filled with oil, so man arrested

The Elsburg SAPS arrested a man on suspicion of being in possession of suspected stolen property.

While out doing routine patrols, Elsburg SAPS members Const Velaphi Zwane and Const Takalani Nndwammbi noticed a man carrying two 25 litre water containers, last Sunday, at about 3pm.

They approached him and asked him for the receipt for the containers.

“The man failed to produce the receipt and stated that he’d taken them from the company where he works – and they hadn’t given him a ‘pass out’ slip,” said Const Daphney Phooko, communications officer for the Elsburg SAPS.

“The containers were filled with an unknown type of oil.”

The 34-year-old man was arrested and detained at the Elsburg Police Station.

He will appear in the Germiston Magistrate’s Court soon, on a charge of possession of suspected stolen property.
