Woman nabbed for selling booze illegally

A woman was arrested for allegedly selling alcohol without a licence.

A 25-year-old woman was recently arrested by the Primrose police for dealing in liquor without a licence.

The arrest was made in the Makause informal settlement, in Primrose, while officers were on a foot patrol of the area.

“Officers were patrolling the area when they noticed a group of people sitting and drinking beer.

“They watched the group and identified where they were buying the alcohol from,” said Sgt Styles Maome, communications officer for the Primrose police.

Officers approached the make-shift tavern and asked to speak to the owner.

“They asked the woman for her liquor licence.

“She told officers she didn’t have one and she was arrested,” Maome said.

She was detained at the Primrose Police Station, pending her appearance in the Germiston Magistrate’s Court.

The accused has since appeared in court, and her case was postponed.
