Germiston Scouts’ power woes

Power supply issues continue at the First Germiston Scout Group’s building.

The First Germiston Scout Group are a proudly Germiston-based troop, which was founded in 1908.

A proud history hasn’t prevented the Scouts group having problems with their power supply since August.

“Our complaint in August was two-fold.

“The first problem was with our bill, as we hadn’t had a reading in over two years.

“The second was that we weren’t receiving full power, as there was a problem with the building’s power phases,” said vice-chairman, Don Bowler.

He added that their account has been ratified in the last three months, when the group discovered they had a large credit with the metro, but still their power woes continue.

“We decided that a private electrician would need to come and check that there was no fault, on our side of the connection.

“He confirmed there was no fault on our side, but only one phase supply is working,” he said.

The group called the metro to have the problem attended to, but despite a repair team arriving at their building, nothing was repaired.

“The building is a danger at this point and this is a very serious matter that can’t go on any longer,” Bowler explained.

The GCN sent a query to the metro, but at the time of going to press had received no comment.
