Take a stand against substance abuse

The community is invited to take part in a march against substance abuse.

Substance abuse has become an epidemic nationwide.

One of the Department of Social Development’s mandates is to render services to communities with regard to the combating of crime, especially related to substance abuse.

The Local Drug Action Committee (LDAC) is one of the intervention strategies utilised by the department to reach out to the community.

The objective is to sensitise communities about the impact of substance abuse and its correlation to crime and other social ills, such as domestic violence, road accidents and mental illness.

In this regard, the Elsburg LDAC is holding a march against substance abuse on December 3, at 8am.

The community must meet at Rondebult Secondary School, in Roodekop Street, Rondebult.

For more information, contact Const Daphney Phooko, the communications officer for the Elsburg SAPS, on 079 067 6675.
