Suspected stolen copper and aluminium found in men’s possession

Two men were recently nabbed for the possession of suspected stolen property.

During a recent routine patrol of Pretoria Road, officers noticed a suspicious-looking bakkie.

Police stopped the vehicle and asked the two occupants, aged 36 and 38 years, to exit the vehicle and show officers what was in the back, as the items were hidden under a white sheet.

Under the sheet they found copper and aluminium cables, valued at R17 370.

The men were unable to give officers any proof of ownership for the cables, and they were arrested for the possession of suspected stolen property.

The men have since appeared in the Germiston Magistrates Court, where their case was postponed for plea and trial.
