Man nabbed, two on the run after attempted robbery

Victim assists in the arrest of one of the men he claims tried to rob him.

Three armed men accosted a man who was walking down Barbara Road recently.

He alleged that the men attempted to rob him but he fought back.

“During the altercation with the accused, the victim was stabbed with a sharp object but still kept fighting,” said the communications officer for the Primrose police, Sgt Styles Maome.

Realising that he would not stop fighting, the would-be robbers turned and tried to run away.

“He managed to grab one of the suspects, while the others managed to escape,” said Maome.

The victim managed to stop a passing patrol vehicle and handed the 33-year-old man over to the officers.

The suspect was arrested, charged with attempted robbery and taken to the Primrose Police Station, where he was held pending his appearance in the Germiston Magistrate’s Court.

Police are searching for the two men who managed to get away.
