Four speedsters nabbed on highway

Four drivers were nabbed for excessive speeding on the N3 south near the Rand Airport Road off-ramp.

A driver claiming to be in a hurry to get home was arrested by members of the EMPD at 6.40am, on Sunday, on the N3 south highway just after the Rand Airport Road exit.

The 33-year-old male driver – caught doing 180km/h in a 120km/h zone – had three male passengers with him in his red VW Golf 6.

He was locked up at the Germiston Police Station where he was charged with reckless and negligent driving.

In addition, on the same stretch of the highway, three more drivers suffered the same fate when they were clocked at 163, 165 and 166km/h, respectively.

The speedsters were charged with reckless and negligent driving at the Germiston Police Station.

They were all subsequently released after posting bail of R1 000 each.

The drivers were expected to appear in the Germiston Magistrate’s Court, on Monday.
