Woman escapes brutal attack

A woman was forced to flee to a nearby community meeting to escape a brutal assault.

A Makause informal settlement woman was recently assaulted, allegedly by her 23-year-old ex-boyfriend.

While opening a case against him with the Primrose police she told officers that she was at home when the accused arrived.

“She told police that he wanted to take their son out and when she questioned where he was taking him the suspect became violent,” said communications officer for the Primrose police, Sgt Styles Maome.

The ex-boyfriend allegedly attacked the victim, who has a protection order against him, and would not stop.

“She managed to escape and ran to the local sports grounds where there was a community meeting,” said Maome.

The man was arrested and charged with assault.

He has since appeared in the Germiston Magistrate’s Court, where the case was postponed for plea and trial.
