Capturing the moment at the Photo and Film Expo

The annual Photo and Film Expo didn’t disappoint, with something for everyone.

Professional photographers and photography enthusiasts were not left wanting at this year’s Photo and Film Expo.

The expo was held at the Ticketpro Dome in Northgate, from October 27 to 30, and had something for everyone.

Visitors were spoilt for choice, with a variety of stands from top photography brands, like Nikon, Canon and Fuji, to name but a few, to an underwater tank where guests could learn the secrets of underwater photography, and even get a sneak peek at a mermaid.

A number of renowned professional photographers gave lectures, helping budding photo lovers to reach their full potential.

Guests could even remember the expo with a lasting reminder in the form of a tiny tattoo, done by Benoni-based tattoo artist Charmaine Buttrick with the help of Tattoo Addict.

Those in attendance were not disappointed when it came to time to test out their new equipment, as a host of “creatures” and “creations” roamed the expo.

Among them were the incredible fashion creations of Caxton’s Germiston City News, Brakpan Herald and Benoni City Times.

The teams from each newspaper worked hard to bring their unique outfits to life and visitors were thrilled.

Once dressed in the outfits models walked around the expo, interacting with guests who couldn’t believe how these newspapers had come to life.

“I have never had so many photos taken in my life,” said Melissa Hart, editor and model of the Germiston City News.

“The experience really took me out of my comfort zone, which was a good thing.

“It was amazing to see how many people were interested and intrigued by our newspaper outfits.”

The expo offered a unique experience, opening many eyes to new and exciting aspects of film and photography.
