Make your ward committee nominations

Time is running out to nominate people to form part of the ward committees.

The metro advises all organised formations, interested groups and sectors that nominations for the election of new ward committee members are open until Friday, November 4.  

Nomination forms are available at all Customer Care Centres, libraries and public participation offices.

Nominations can be made for representatives from the following sectors:

*  Women and Children *  Infrastructure Services
*  Aged and Disability *  Economic Development and City Planning (FBO)
*  Faith Based Organization (FBO) *  Health and Social Development
*  Youth *  Sport, Heritage, Recreation, Arts and Culture
* Environmental Development *  Community Safety

To be nominated as a ward committee member or a sector representative you need to fill the following requirements:

  • Be a South African citizen.
  • Be a registered voter of that particular ward.
  • Be at least 18 years of age.
  • Have no criminal conviction.
  • Not owing anything for municipal services, or if in arrears, one needs to make the necessary arrangements to settle the account according to set council policy.

Ward committee elections will take place in each of the 112 wards from November 12 to January 31, 2017.
