All paired up and ready to race

The Peermont Emperors Palace Charity Mile is taking to the track on November 5.

In the run-up to the Peermont Emperors Palace Charity Mile taking place on November 5 at Turffontein Racecourse, the much awaited unveiling of the field for this year’s Peermont Emperors Palace Charity Mile took place, last Tuesday, at Emperors Palace.

This popular Grade 2 race sees 16 racehorses each being paired with one of 16 celebrities, 16 media partners and most importantly the 16 charities who will all receive proportionate amounts of the R1-million prize money, with the winning charity receiving R150 000, the charity paired with the horse in second place receiving R100 000 and all the amounts received by the other 14 charities dependent on the allocated horse’s placement.

As a media partner to the event the GCN has been teamed up with the National Horse Trust and Courtnall and Semone Skosan are the charity’s celebrities.

The racehorse who will be carrying the charity’s hopes is Intergalactic.

Katlehong-based charity Reahile Primary Aftercare Centre has been teamed with Amanda du Pont as their celebrity, the GCN’s sister newspaper Southern Courier as media partner and their racehorse is Rabada.

“This event is a highlight on the Gauteng racing calendar and never fails to be a fun, exciting, successful race day that raises a lot of money for very worthy causes,” said Phumelela Racing executive Clyde Basel.

“As unveiled, the field which will run in this race includes some of South Africa favourites, but what’s more important is that everyone will actually be a winner on the day.

“We thank Peermont Emperors Palace once again for partnering with us for what will no doubt be an unforgettable day”.

All for a good cause, come and support world class racing at the Peermont Emperors Palace Charity Mile on November 5.

Gates open at 11am.
