Hospital opens its doors to the public

Bertha Gxowa Hospital hosted an open day to teach the community about the services offered by the hospital.

The Bertha Gxowa Hospital was a hub of activity on Thursday, with community members flocking to the hospital’s open day.

The open day, which was held at the hospital’s Kobie Moller Hall, saw a variety of medical personnel on site teaching the public about their services.

The Bertha Gxowa Hospital is designated as a district hospital serving Ekurhuleni and the services provided are non-specialist in nature.

Services include accident, emergency and trauma care, as well as allied services which include audiology and speech therapy, clinical psychology, dietetics, occupational therapy, physiotherapy, social work, radiography services and sonar and pharmaceutical services

In addition to this the event showcased a number of career opportunities within the medical sector. This element of the day was aimed at younger visitors.

The day was a success with community members leaving the open day with a better understanding of what the hospital and its staff offer.
