Two men nabbed for housebreaking

Two men were arrested for a Wychwood housebreaking, while two more escaped.

The Primrose police recently arrested two suspects, aged 24 and 33 years old, respectively.

The men were charged with housebreaking and theft and possession of stolen property after they allegedly robbed a Wychwood home.

The incident was reported to police by a neighbour.

“The complainant alleged that she received a call from the head of the patrollers from the neighbourhood watch asking her if her neighbours were moving out because there were four men loading stuff onto a bakkie,” said communications officer for the Primrose police, Sgt Styles Maome.

Suspicious as she knew his neighbour was in hospital, the complainant drove to the address and blocked the gate with her vehicle and called the local security company for backup.

“Two men allegedly exited the house and seeing the security company ran away.

“Security guards were able to catch the remaining two and called the police,” said Maome.

The two men were arrested and taken to the Primrose Police Station.

A manhunt has been launched to find the two suspects who escaped.

The station commander for the Primrose police, Col Albertina Vesi, thanked the community for their assistance in the incident.

The men have since appeared in the Germiston Magistrate’s Court, where the case was postponed for plea and trial.
