Man allegedly rapes woman in Main Reef Road

A man allegedly threatens to burn down woman’s shack if she tells anyone that he raped her.

A woman on her way to the Angelo informal settlement from the Makause informal settlement was allegedly raped by a 34-year-old man.

“The victim told officers that she knew the man, so thought nothing of it when he offered to take her to Main Reef Road to meet her brother,” said Sgt Styles Maome, communications officer for the Primrose police.

Before they reached their destination the accused allegedly stopped the vehicle next to an open field and demanded the woman have sex with him.

“The woman refused, as she knew the suspect was married,” Maome said.

The man did not take no for an answer and allegedly forced himself on the victim.

“After the incident the accused told the victim that if his wife found out he would burn down her shack,” said Maome.

The complainant opened a case of rape at the Germiston Police Station shortly after the incident.

The suspect was traced to Primrose where he was arrested and detained at the Primrose Police Station.

He has since appeared in the Germiston Magistrate’s Court, where his case was postponed for a bail application.
