Weather service warns of strong winds and veld fires
The South African Weather Service has warned of potential veld fires across Gauteng, the North West and the Free State.
As the hot and dry weather persists across the country the South African Weather Service has warned of an extremely high fire danger.
The warning has been issued for Gauteng, the North West and the Free State.
Residents are encouraged to take precautions when travelling.
In addition to this warning the weather service has warned of strong, damaging westerly winds that are expected to sweep across the country.
It is predicted that these winds will be most persistent in the afternoons.
