The Primrose police recently arrested a 52-year-old woman in the Marathon informal settlement.
She was taken into custody after a 30-year-old woman opened a case of assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm against her.
“The victim told police she was on her way to work when the woman attacked her without being provoked,” said Sgt Styles Maome, communications officer for the Primrose police.
The woman hit the victim repeatedly with a beer bottle during the assault.
The accused was taken to the Primrose Police Station, where she is being held, pending her appearance in the Germiston Magistrates Court.
