Resident infuriated by metro’s slow turnaround time

A Primrose resident was left infuriated when the metro had not attended to a sewage leak within 10 days.

Kaima Godfrey came into the GCN’s offices in a desperate attempt to get answers.

He claimed that he had reported a sewage leak in Primula Street, in Primrose, to the metro on September 10.

“Once I had reported the leak, metro technicians came to the scene, got out of their vehicle, simply looked at the leak and then left,” he said.

This happened on several occasions, according to Godfrey.

The GCN sent a query to the metro to find out why the metro was taking so long to repair the leak and what had caused it.

Furthermore the GCN questioned why technicians did nothing when they were at the scene, as this seemed like a waste of money and resources.

Themba Gadebe, spokesman for the metro said, “The first report of the blockage was received on September 15, and it was unblocked on September 17.

“We then received a second complaint on September 20, to which a team was dispatched to resolve the problem on the same day.”

According to the metro tree roots had caused the sewage line to become blocked and therefore leak.
