Over 1 000 people searched in operation

Operation Bumper to Bumper creates visibility.

The EMPD’s Bumper to Bumper operation continued in Katlehong, last Friday.

Officers conducted a stop-and-search, between 2pm and 10pm, on Thutong Road ,near the college.

They concentrated on this busy road, which connects Vosloorus and Katlehong.

Approximately 1 512 people were searched and 544 motor vehicles were stopped.

“Nothing sinister was found and drivers were on their best behaviour,” said Lieut Kobeli Mokheseng, media liaison officer for the EMPD.

“The aim of the operation was crime prevention and high visibility.

“EMPD officers will continue to conduct similar roadblocks to curb criminal acts and to make areas safer.”
