Russell Road reservoir running low

Metro reduces water supply pressure as reservoir starts to run low.

Metro technicians have been closely monitoring water levels at reservoirs across Ekurhuleni and have noted that water levels at the Russell Road reservoir are running low.

As a precautionary measure water supply pressure will be reduced in efforts to conserve the resource.

Consumers in Germiston are also urged to implement water saving measures as levels in their supplying reservoir have dropped.

The affected areas are: Albemarle, Castleview, Dinwiddie, Lambton and Wadeville.

“Residents and businesses are required to use water sparingly and adhere to the prohibition of irrigation activities between 6am and 6pm.

“These include the use of hosepipes, sprinklers and irrigation systems, as well as filling of swimming pools,” said Ekurhuleni’s spokesman Themba Gadebe.

The metro will soon announce a water restriction tariff and fines to be imposed for those who contravene the restrictions that are currently in place.
